Casino Arizona is the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community's gaming-first property in Scottsdale, and the one to choose when you want to play rather than spend a weekend at a resort. There is no hotel. What it has instead is one of the few full bingo halls left in the Phoenix area, a buffet with a different theme most days of the week, more than 1,400 slots, a keno lounge, a sportsbook and a showroom. It carries a 4.1 rating from more than 22,000 Google reviewers.

The bingo hall

Bingo is what sets Casino Arizona apart. Many Arizona floors have cut back or dropped bingo, and the venue calls its hall the premier bingo location in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area. It runs 16 sessions a week across three formats:

SessionDaysDoorsEarly birdsMain gamesPaper buy-in
MatineeDaily10:30am12:30pm1:00pm$5 to $20
EveningDaily4:00pm6:30pm7:00pm$6 to $24
L8 NiteFriday and Saturday10:00pm-Midnight$4 to $18

Paper packages come in four levels. Electronic packages run $30 to $200 for matinee and evening sessions and $30 to $150 for L8 Nite. The hall has giant flat-screen displays and its own counter serving salads, sandwiches, wraps and snacks, so you do not need to leave between games. L8 Nite adds live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Salt River Rewards members earn points on bingo spend, so sign up at the desk before your first session.

Eagles Buffet

The newly renovated Eagles Buffet is the other big draw, and its schedule matters because it is not open every day.

Other dining

Cholla Steakhouse and Lounge is the fine-dining room for steak and seafood. Willows Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, CAZ Taqueria does casual Mexican, and CAZ Sports Bar has appetizers, burgers and beer next to the sportsbook. Salt River Café is open 24/7 with breakfast sandwiches, Asian bowls and grab-and-go items, and the Coffee Station handles coffee and baked goods.

The gaming floor

The floor holds more than 1,400 multi-denomination slots, including video poker and statewide progressives. Table games include blackjack, roulette, craps and pai gow poker. The Keno Lounge runs its own promotions and tournaments from 8:30am to 11:30pm. The sportsbook sits inside CAZ Sports Bar, with 46 4K screens, and takes parlays, futures and proposition bets.

There is no poker room. The same community's Talking Stick Resort, at exit 44 off the 101 and Indian Bend Road, runs the Arena Poker Room, which the resort describes as Arizona's largest.

The Showroom and events

The Showroom hosts live music, mostly tribute bands spanning classic rock, country, pop and regional Mexican acts. Shows change month to month, so check the venue's entertainment listings for upcoming dates and tickets. Cholla and CAZ Sports Bar are the usual pre-show dinner choices.

Getting there and tips

Take exit 50 off Loop 101 at McKellips Road; the venue says it is minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor. Friday and Saturday evenings are busiest, and weekday afternoons are quieter. You must be 21 to gamble, and ID is checked.

Nearby alternatives

For a hotel, spa or poker, go to Talking Stick Resort. Lone Butte Casino in Chandler and We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort to the northeast are the other nearby options. See all Arizona in-person casinos.
